Since individuals have different personalities we’ll be covering hairstyles that should work for everyone. We have lots of cute and easy prom styles that all girls will love! Check out this great tutorial with some awesome ideas!
- The Half Updo - Bohemian and Girly Fishtail
A quick look at this hairstyle would tell you its carefree and youthful characteristic. It is definitely your best choice if you’re looking to achieve an effortlessly messy boho look. A style like this goes well with wavy long hair. So if you have a shorter one, adding some extensions will do the trick so you can add more volume to your desired length if necessary.
How to do it:
Start in the middle part of your hair. Then if you have side bangs, make sure to secure them with pins. Take a large chunk of hair at the top of your head on one side and create a fishtail braid. Keep doing the braid two inches down, and then start to add more strands as you proceed to achieve a beautiful fishtail braid. Note that it does not have to be completely neat, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself!
When you get down near your ear, go back to your regular fishtail braid and do it all the way to the ends. Wrap an elastic band at the end to secure it. To get the Boho effect, start to tweak the strands so that you can get a fuller and messier look. Move to the other side and secure your bangs firmly again. Pull the strands back to create a half up and half down look. Secure the strands for the half updo and put it in place with an elastic band. Make sure that you include the fishtail as well. Take the strands that are left hanging together with the fishtail and wrap them around to create a messy bun. Lastly, pull at the bun to make it messier. Match this hairstyle with a stunning gown of your choice and you are good to go.
- The Edgy Center Full Dutch Braid
This next hairdo is suited for ladies who don’t wish to have their hair all over the place. As braids are perfect to those with an active lifestyle, this particular style will let you dance the night away without having to worry about your hair getting messed up. It’s easy as it will only require you basic braiding – the famous Dutch Braid!
How to do it:
Start by sectioning the hair at the top of your head then at the temples going back to the center. Grab these strands and tease them with a brush to have more volume. Pull the strands back and create a small poof. Secure the strands with two bobby pins. Grab a few strands on either side of the bobby pins and bring them over. Tie them with an elastic band and you will be creating a giant Dutch braid from the center of your head to the nape. The strands tied with an elastic band will be the middle strand.
Gather a few strands from either side of your head so that you can have the strands on the right, left, and center. Start creating the Dutch braid. Cross the side strands under the middle strands one at a time as you add more hair. Plait the strands all the way down to the nape and continue with a regular three strands braid.
Look out for areas that are not in place. Those sections may need a bit of adjustment. When you are done, fan out the braid so that you can achieve more thickness and volume. That’s it! You are now ready for your prom.
- Classic, Elegant, and Feminine Updo
The third hairstyle is quite a classic choice. It’s timeless, elegant and very feminine, so it’s easy to say that with this hairdo, nothing can ever go wrong. If you like something simple and minimal, here’s an elegant option for you.
How to do it:
Start off by sectioning the hair at the top of your head. Then make another section at the top of your head and finish at the center. This leaves a section of hair at the front and sides. Gather the strands in one hand and tease them with a brush using the other arm. When satisfied with the volume, secure them at the back with bobby pins. Do not create a poof.
Take the strands at the sides and start to create a twist leaving your bangs out. Create the two strands and twist running towards your ear and keep adding the strands. When you are satisfied with the thickness of the twist, stop adding strands and twist to the end. Pull the twist to the back of your head and pin it below the previous bobby pins. Do the same on the other side. Create a two-strand twist and pin it down.
Since all the hair is flowing backward, grab all of them and flip them inwards. Wrap the strands and tuck them in until you have a sleek bun. Use bobby pins to secure the bun in place. The bun will look like hair that is rolled up. The elegance and sleekness of this style are breathtaking.
Having these hairdos to choose from, you will surely enjoy your prom night confidently knowing that you were able to express your own personal character through the hairstyle of your choice. Get ready to have those pictures and videos taken because your prom look would be something that you will always look back on for years! Which one do you like best?
