Wet and Wavy Brazilian Hair: Here’s Why You Should Wear It

Whether your hair is straight, curly or wavy, there is an extension, weave or wig for you out there. We’ve talked about almost every weave, wigs, and extensions for all types of manes on our blog.

But what if you’re looking to experiment and spice things up a bit? What if all you want is straight hair one day and wavy curls the next day?

Well, here’s some good news: You do not have to buy different kinds of weaves or wigs for that matter.

In fact, all you need is Wet and Wavy Brazilian hair. This extension transforms naturally from straight and silky to curly and wavy, and back again.

Wet and Wavy Brazilian Hair

The beauty of these extensions is the fact that they can be switched from wavy to curly, to straight, all with the use of a brush or a little heat.

The ability to change hairstyles quickly allows you to experiment with many styles without needing to re-weave or add different extensions all of the time. All you need is a brush and some heat, and you’re good to go.

Let’s take a minute to talk about each styling option below:

Option 1: Using a Brush to Style

As we said, the good thing about this Brazilian hair is that it curls and relaxes on its own, without the need for chemical treatments.

Getting your extension to curl up is a walk in the park- all you have to do is dampen the extensions in water, and they’ll naturally curl to form waves.

If you’re tired of curls and want to straighten the extension out to a more sleek style, simply use a brush to smooth out the curls gently. Go section by section (about 1-inch thick hair) starting from the ends stretching them outwards and downward until you are done with the whole head.

This method is very similar to detangling black manes. The only difference is that you’ll need to use a round brush to smooth out the waves rather than the usual wide-toothed comb used for detangling.

For quick results, the extension or weave should be tightly secured, either on your head or on a wig held by hand.

Option 2: Using Heat to Style

If your wet and wavy Brazilian extensions have tighter curls, using a brush to smoothen the waves won’t cut it. You may need to apply heat to straighten it out- for this, you’ll need a flat iron.

Again, make sure the hair is tightly secured in place, on your hand or on your head, so that you can be able to stretch it out without much fuss.

Set your flat iron to the lowest possible heat setting so that you don’t burn your extensions- and gently pass it over the curls ensuring you aren’t too close to the strands.

Alternatively, you can use a brush or comb together with a blow dryer on the warm setting. Just gently brush as you pass the blow dryer over the curls to achieve a straight look on your mane.

Keep in mind that you should never wash your extensions and then try to blow-dry or flat iron them afterward. The reason behind this is straightforward. Once you wash your extensions, they will curl up to form tighter waves. The more water you expose them to when washing, the more the curls they will have.

So washing the extensions before straightening them out is counterproductive because it will take longer to achieve a sleek, straight look. You can choose to use a waterless shampoo to clean the extension, or simply skip the washing altogether.

Also, remember that every time you straighten the extension using a blow dryer or flat iron, you pull more and more of the curls out. That means you’ll need a lot of time to get it wavy again. So, if you truly want to maintain your extensions, you might want to go slow on the straightening.

That said, a Brazilian extension can meet all your style needs and then some, with barely any work done. It’s hands down one of the most versatile hair extensions out there, and I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t try it out.

Now that we are done with styling let’s move on to how to choose the best Brazilian extension.

How to Choose Wet and Wavy Brazilian Hair

There are literally hundreds of sellers online claiming to offer the best Brazilian hair extensions. However, some of them do not have original Brazilian hair. With Brazilian wet and wavy hair, you need to buy quality extensions so that you can get excellent service.

It’s actually recommended that when buying this type of extensions to go for virgin bundles because they’re not only long-lasting but also maintain quality when styled. Do not opt for dyed options because virgin extensions can still be dyed or highlighted.

Again, when buying Brazilian extensions, make sure it’s soft and shiny and looks like real human hair. It should also be versatile enough for you to try out any hairstyle you want. Lastly, it should have natural frontal closure and, of course, hairlines.

How to Care for and Maintain Brazilian Extensions

Most people don’t know how to take care of Brazilian extensions properly. When it comes to maintenance, it is vital to use the right products.

It would be best if you used the appropriate shampoo, conditioner, and styling gel. The best products are those that have restoring properties and are free from sulfate and silicone.
